The Caribbean Health Research Council (CHRC) is the regional health institution with the mandate to promote and coordinate health research in the Caribbean. 
It serves countries that are members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), providing advice to their Ministries of Health and other stakeholders and generally supporting research related activities.

CARPHA\CHRC Conference

There will be a "Data Analysis using STATA" Training Workshop,
April 30 to May 1st 2013 at the Conference venue, Hilton Barbados Resort.

Registration Fee is US$ 200, special rate for Barbados residents US$ 150.

Workshop Objectives:
  1. Introduce participants to key data processing and analysis techniques
  2. Introduce participants to the fundamentals of Stata Software
  3. Equip participants to carry basic management and analysis using Stata
     

Topics include:

  • Navigating through Stata and Issuing Commands
  • Data Entry and Manipulation in Stata
  • Summarising Data
  • Probability Applications
  • Means and Proportions
  • Hypothesis Testing
  • Introduction to Regression

Stata will be provided free of charge for the duration of the workshop.

Stata is a complete, integrated statistical package that provides data analysis, data management, simulation, custom programming and graphical capabilities.  It is used by businesses and academic institutions; most of its users work in research, especially in the fields of economics, sociology, political science, biomedicine and epidemiology.

The  African-Caribbean Cancer Consortium will host a Cancer Registry Workshop on May 1, 2013 at the Conference venue Hilton Barbados Resort

CARPHA is the Health Agency of the Caribbean region with a collective response to strengthen and reorient the health system and approach to address the changing nature of public health challenges, particularly in relation to communicable diseases such as HIV / AIDS and Non-Communicable Diseases, such as obesity, cancer, heart disease and diabetes. CARPHA will support this by adopting a truly people-centred, evidence-based approach to its work. It will continue to address long term persistent threats to the Region related to natural disasters
