Consistent with its mandate to promote the use of research evidence to inform practice, the CHRC has developed clinical guidelines for the most prevalent chronic diseases in the Caribbean. These protocols are based on international best practice but are fashioned to take the culture, economic situation and health systems in the Caribbean into account. The Managing Diabetes in Primary Care in the Caribbean and the Managing Hypertension in Primary Care in the Caribbean have recently been revised in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization. The revision of the Asthma guidelines and development of new protocols for the management of Depression in Primary Care are underway.
